Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor, and commentator. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. In 1967 Mitchell was hired as a reporter at KYW Radio and TV in Philadelphia. She became a reporter for the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV, (then WTOP) located which was based in Washington DC. Two years later she became a general reporter for NBC News in Washington. Beginning in 1981, she began working for the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. Mitchell was appointed chief White House reporter in 1992 as well as the chief Foreign Affairs correspondent at NBC News. Mitchell has appeared as a host and panelist in the TV news show Meet the Press. Mitchell was a panelist during the 1988 presidential debates with George Bush and Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is married to Alan Greenspan who was former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for excellence in the field of journalism. In 2004, The Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her contribution to defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was a reporter at for the White House first for NBC News between 1981 and 1988 between the terms of Ronald Reagan's second term as president. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal, budget tax reforms and the arms control. Mitchell travelled with Ronald Reagan several times for summits, and to discuss issues including the Iran Contra scandal.
